When this family purchased a newly renovated home in a coveted neighborhood sight unseen, they hoped it would be a perfect fit. After a year of living in it, they realized the opposite—the style felt disconnected from their taste, the furnishings felt ill-fitting, the rooms felt cold, and their backyard no longer served the needs of a growing family. They needed warmth, cohesion, and an outdoor environment that allowed for both play and productivity, including an exterior office to reclaim an indoor bedroom.

During our design discovery—what we lovingly call “design therapy”—their aesthetic became clear. She gravitated toward the feeling of being on vacation in Hawaii; he preferred the simplicity and clean lines of mid-century modern. Both favored high contrast, restrained color, and thoughtful minimalism.

With this foundation, Et Sal Interiors reimagined the entire property. Outdoors, we maximized every inch of their 8,500 sq ft lot with a new pergola, putting green, vegetable garden, firepit patio, and a custom metal office shed—transforming the yard into a functional extension of the home and a place the family genuinely loves spending time.

Inside, we established a cohesive palette that elevated the existing builder-grade materials, selected furnishings to improve flow and entertaining capacity, and layered in decor to add depth and intention.

The final result is a moody, warm, mid-century-leaning home with character, clarity, and ease—a newly built space that finally feels like them. The backyard transformation was completed in three months, with the furnishing and décor phase following in just one.
