The goal was to design a restorative retreat that promoted longevity, detoxification, and comfort from the construction materials to the forks in the kitchen drawer. The 2-bedroom, 1-bath, 750 sq ft home began with a deeply intentional build and generally used philosophy by Et Sal Interiors: make it healthy! From mold-preventive flashing behind the walls, non-toxic insulation, EMF-reducing primer on every interior wall, strategic window placement to maximize natural light and circadian rhythm support. This was nothing new to the team but reaffirmed our holistic vision with is central to our ethos.
From there, the design became a full exploration of what a truly holistic home could be.
- Mood-lifting paint applications were used to support emotional wellbeing.
- All tile, countertops, and cabinetry were chosen specifically for their wellness promoting properties.
- Mattresses, bedding, and furnishings were researched extensively to ensure low toxicity and exceptional comfort.
- Even the kitchenware, textiles, and everyday amenities were selected with well being, simplicity, and longevity in mind.
The resulting aesthetic is both fresh and serene — a space that feels clean, joyful, and deeply grounding without sacrificing style.
Since opening, the retreat has become one of Airbnb’s top-rated homes in the area, known for offering a rare combination of holistic design, comfort, and intentional living.
The entire project — from design through construction and full furnishing — was completed in six months, creating a small home with a meaningful purpose.
